Technology

Leading Modern Technology Solutions

At Rasmussen Periodontics and Implant Dentistry, we utilize the latest and most advanced technology and techniques available to improve the way our patients are treated.

Piezosurgery

Piezosurgery is an advanced ultrasonic instrument that allows Dr. Rasmussen to make extremely precise incisions into the bone, conserving bone structure and leading to a faster recovery and better patient experience. The instrument will not harm soft tissue, which eliminates the risk of damaging important surrounding anatomical structures such as nerves, membranes and gums.

Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF)

Driven by a passion to provide leading edge, world-class care for our patients, we are now using Platelet Rich Fibrin therapy to help patients experience naturally better healing after surgery. We collect a small sample of your blood prior to your surgery. Bioactive clots are formed using a centrifuge system that separates and concentrates platelets and helpful proteins found in your blood.
Much like a natural “band-aid”, these powerful clots are then placed on your surgery site to boost the natural healing process. Because we use your own blood without any additives, it is a 100% natural solution to greatly enhancing post surgery recovery.

3D Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) Scan

The High Definition Cone Beam CT Scanner is a 3D radiographic imaging device designed specifically for dental specialists.
With this device, Dr. Rasmussen can record and more accurately examine a complete 3D model of a patient's critical anatomy. The scanner will provide a more thorough analysis of bone structure and tooth orientation to improve treatment, as well as discern the best selection of implant type, size, location, and angulations for each patient. This technology provides a huge diagnostic advantage that allows Dr. Rasmussen to see the patient’s teeth, jaw, and nerves in 3D in precisely calibrated measurements.

Trios

If you have ever experienced traditional dental impressions and the goo that goes with it, you probably have no interest in enduring it again. The TRIOS scanner allows our team to capture high definition digital video and images of your teeth without the mess of traditional impressions. That means a far more convenient and better patient experience with better modeling for the dental labs to create precision dental solutions for you.

Versah Burs

Versah Burs utilize a technique called osseodensification that aims at bone preservation and compaction. The burs will effectively increase the quantity and density of periimplant bone, subsequently increasing primary stability, one of the most important factors in implant success rates.

Computer Guided Surgery

For our dental implant patients, computer guided surgery is a new innovation that improves patient care, plain and simple. Computer guided surgery allows for exact planning before the patient ever starts the procedure. Using CBCT and planning software technology, Dr. Rasmussen is able to precisely determine where the dental implant needs to go. A surgical guide is then fabricated which allows the implant to be placed exactly as planned, eliminating any source of error.

Non-invasive Tissue Grafting

Have you noticed your teeth looking longer, or having discoloration close to the gumline? Do you have sensitivity when drinking cold drinks? For many people, a soft tissue procedure may help. At Rasmussen Periodontics and Implant Dentistry, we are leaders in this area, having done more procedures of this type than any other group in the Tampa Bay area.
While traditional techniques still work great in many situations, patients were often fearful because of pain after the procedure. Fortunately, there are newer techniques that minimize downtime and post-operative discomfort.
Some newer techniques available at Rasmussen Periodontics and Implant Dentistry are the "Pinhole Surgical Technique" and the "Tunneling" technique, that do not require taking tissue from the roof of the mouth. Additionally, we offer Platelet Rich Plasma, that further decreases discomfort, speeds up healing time, and improves results. Simply put, we have invested heavily in the newest techniques to give the best patient experience possible.

Large Scale Bone Reconstruction

When patients don’t have adequate healthy bone to support dental implants due to gum disease, long-term denture wear, tooth defects, injury to the face and other related issues, our doctors might recommend large scale bone augmentation. In the past, this would involve taking a hip or rib bone to assist in rebuilding the edentulous ridge. This procedure would typically be performed in a hospital setting. Today, we are able to build a strong foundation for implants with much less invasive procedures such as bone block grafts and guided bone regeneration, which requires very minimal healing time. All procedures are completed in office.
Large-scale bone reconstruction is a safe and highly successful procedure. Dr. Rasmussen, is the leading periodontal surgeon, in the Tampa Bay area, in number of large scale bone reconstruction cases.

All-on-4 Implants

Achieve a completely new smile in the same day! A large percentage of the adult population suffers from tooth loss and rather than hassle with the discomfort of dentures, our state of the art “All-On-4” implant system enables a minimum number of implants to support a maximum number of teeth. As few as four implants can be used to support a full arch - upper or lower jaw - of fixed, non-removable replacement teeth. This minimally invasive solution is most efficient and cost-effective method for implant-supported tooth replacement. Our doctors are equipped to complete this procedure in-office the same day.

The All-On-4 procedure offers a natural looking, full set of teeth with improved patient satisfaction. Regain your self-confidence and quality of life with a long-lasting, healthy smile.
