Dr. Richard A. Rasmussen III is a Board Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology whose background and credentials reflect his commitment to the highest standards of patient care, treatment innovation, and leadership within his specialty.
A native of Tampa, Florida, Dr. Rasmussen graduated from Jesuit High School and went on to study at the University of Florida where he graduated Cum Laude with research distinction. Dr. Rasmussen’s achievements were recognized by the country’s best training programs, including the country’s number one rated dental school, the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. Preferring to stay in his home state, Dr. Rasmussen declined acceptance to Harvard and attended Nova Southeastern College of Dental Medicine where he obtained his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree. Dr. Rasmussen graduated at the top of his class and was honored with membership in the prestigious academic society of Omicron Kappa Upsilon.
Dr. Rasmussen completed residency training in Periodontology at the University of Florida, Shands Hospital where he developed a special interest in implant reconstruction, periodontal plastic surgery and wisdom teeth surgery. During his chief year, he also received a Master’s Degree in Dental Sciences as well as certification in Intravenous Conscious Sedation.
Dr. Rasmussen resides in South Tampa with his wife, Sarina, his daughter, Madison and his two dogs, Tanner and Teddy. In his spare time he enjoys traveling, working out and is an avid fan of the Florida Gators, Buccaneers and Lightning.
